Why are grocery store prices more expensive than Farm2Me?
I remember when we started in 2010....
A second wave of deregulation of the USDA will only lead to higher prices as farmers get less subsidies, defunding food assistance (food stamps) will make food more expensive as less food stamp buyers aren’t buying your favorite snacks and the manufacturer has to make up for loss of business by increasing prices further.
Farm2Me makers are still susceptible to packaging, but their ingredients and products are locally sourced, they’re not subsidized by USDA grants / tax credits, produced local, support local economies, — so a lot of this federal trade and rebate (which only help larger corporations with more than 2000 acres of land), so we’re not impact by these regulations.
Also Farm2Me opens our Wholesale pricing to anyone ( a small business that wants to purchase emerging products to use at their events, office, schools, e-commerce business, gifts, etc. ) Anyone! And we offer Free Shipping too.
Tariffs (taxes on imports) will make food more expensive as we stop importing cheap made goods. Good for Farm2Me American made products (and also European products in the EU, Mexican products in Mexico — because we’re a local food system platform. For corporate brands and consumers buying industrial products, this is not great as we rely on a more expensive American made alternative to imports. Less consumers can afford to spend as tomatoes become more expensive, and so the American farmer sells less tomatoes, making it more expensive on their farm as they throw out all those unsold tomatoes. Next year producing less, the price of each tomato sold for more to make up from the loss in business, makes it harder for the average consumer to afford food. Spiraling this problem out of control as prices continue to climb and less tomatoes are purchased, leading to higher prices.
We don’t want hungry Americans, so we trade our huge marketing network as the world’s 1st and Largest Emerging Food Marketplace with millions of customers, in exchange for Cheaper Wholesale Pricing for all of you. (Read: we don’t charge brands for marketing, and pass that money in the form of savings to you the customer).
Publix, Krogers, Whole Foods, Amazon, Target and Costco charge food brands $$$ (30-45% of what they make in sales) as “‘promotion” and “marketing fees”, or “buy back” and “shelf space”. Which translates to a more expensive product for you. These grocers should be ashamed of their model — they’re not in the business of food, they’re in the business of marketing and real estate! They should be concerned with lowering food prices, not charging more for marketing in the coupon book. They should be paying customers back for consuming, or paying the brands for promoting Target and Costco on the food brand’s Instagram account (which the food brand would use to subsidize the cost of their product). Not the other way around.
Pro Tip #1
Challenge: Farm2Me orders are made to order fresh by the brand, to extend shelf life, so take advantage and stock up. Secret gift!
